Food Combinations
All Foods do not play well with others.
Your favorite foods might be green beans, tomatoes and chocolate, but that doesn’t mean
that you would eat them all at the same time. Would you? Well, the human body is the same
way. Your body is equipped, generally speaking to process most of the foods in your geographic
region and utilize the nutrients to nourish your body. And surely you would not expect your car
to run at peak levels with oil and gas mixed together in the fuel line. Here is a quick & not so
dirty list of nutritional guidelines.
- Okay to eat veges with proteins
- Okay to eat veges with starches
- NO protein with starch (Classic examples are meat and potatoes, fish with rice, spaghetti
- and meatballs, tuna-noodle casserole, pepperoni and cheese pizza, cheeseburger and French
- fries, and you get the idea)
- Try to eat fruit alone is the easy answer (otherwise it’s okay to eat acid fruits with nuts and
- seeds, acid fruit always eaten prior to nuts or seeds. Lastly always eat melons with other
- melons or nothing at all.)
Many times people are less certain of where each food falls categorically speaking, so I will leave
you with a short list to reference. This list is courtesy of Raymond Francis and Kester Cotton’s Book
“Never Be Sick Again.” The book BTW was a great read and is a resource that I continue to reference
in my private and personal practices.
- Proteins – Avocado, coconut, eggs, fish, meat, milk products, nut, seeds, sprouts
- Starch – Barley, beans, buckwheat, corn, dried peas, flour (bread, pasta, pastries), millet, oats,
- potatoes, squash, sugar (candy, soft drinks, etc.), yams
- Vegetables – you know
- Sweet Fruits – Bananas, currants, dates, dried fruit, figs, grapes, prunes
- Acid Fruits – all berries, apples, apricots, citrus fruits, kiwi, grapefruits, cherries, lemons, oranges,
- mango, papaya, peaches, pineapple, nectarines
- Melons – Banana melon, cantaloupe, casaba, Crenshaw, honeydew, watermelon
Next time I shall give you some of the digestion timelines so that you can better prepare for your next
important event. When your blood is flowing to your stomach to digest food it is less likely that you
perform at your best regardless the activity.
Bottom Line: When it relates to health and nutrition, Survival will not equal Revival.
